working out demotivates me sometimes
as a beginner at the gym, lifting is one of my favorite activities, but sometimes i feel so demotivated because i keep getting injuries here and there and i always have to modify my program and take breaks. i don't even know what caused most of them to begin with. like one day i was doing shoulder presses and my elbow started feeling funny (i swear my elbows were not flared out). i've also had problems with my shoulders for a while too when i increase my lat pulldown weight. i've been stuck at the same weight for who knows how long? i work out 4 days a week; am i overtraining or something? honestly i think a personal trainer would benefit me but they are just so expensive and i don't know if i can justify it. it's just demotivating to not see progress and to have a bunch of setbacks when everyone around you seems to be healthy. i feel so fragile and i'm only in my 20s. i should be seeing beginner gains, not beginner pains ;-;
to me, lifting is an individual activity. i do it by myself and i don't have anyone helping me out with my form. i record myself and try my best to see what i'm doing wrong, but obviously that's not good enough. a part of me is scared to ask people i know for help because i'm really scrawny. i know that's not the right mindset and people out there would be more than willing to help. i'm slowly working on getting out of my comfort zone and taking baby steps to being more confident in being a beginner because closed mouths don't get fed. i have to believe in myself because who else will?
